So a big thanks to all of you and we look forward to our next membership milestone which might not be the one you expect it to be!!

The previous milestone, 400K, was acheived just 5 1/2 months earlier on 31st of August.
It is noteworthy that it took almost 1 full year to get from 300K members to 400K and even longer to get from 200K to 300K.

If you are interested in more r/Arduino historical events and milestones, check out our [Milestones](reddit.com/r/arduino/wiki/index/milestones/) page that can be found in our Wiki along with many more factoids, guides and a FAQ.

The milestone was commemorated by this 500K members announcement.
People were invited to post an image of a project that they created in return for a commemorative flair. We were fairly open minded when adjudicating, as some of the posts required a Valles Marineris level of open minded-ness to see the (sometimes very) nebulous Arduino linkages.

Check out the post, there are some great projects show cased there.

Moderator's Choices

Title
This is powered from a LoLin Wemos D1. I've checked the voltages and they're all correct at the relay pins.

In previous projects, this has worked fine, but the relay refuses to fire when high is sent to it from the Arduino pin. Trying it on my bench power supply also doesn't work. To my absolute suprise, if I connect IN to ground it fires quite happily.

I'm very confused. Can anyone suggest what's going on please ?

TIA

   submitted by    /u/BillyBraggsArse
[link]   [comments]

Reverse relay ?

I am trying to build a 4 wheel robot with HC-SR04 - ultrasonic distance sensors but I am getting incorrect readings. What I am looking to achieve is when said small quad is flown through a small ring, depending on which drone (Drone 1 (Red) / Drone 2 (Blue)), a transponder on the drones would trigger an LED strip light to turn red or blue, depending on which transponder a receiver has recognised as flying near it. - I'd be happy to just be turning a main plug on, to begin with which would turn a red or blue lamp on to start me off! It honestly doesn't need to be as specific as this but I hope you can understand the goal.

I really hope that there is something you guys can help with to get me rolling or carry on with my searching! I know this is a long shot but I'm taking any suggestion.

   submitted by    /u/TheRealNarthe
[link]   [comments]

Where to find a similar counter ?

  submitted by    /u/dgeek
[link]   [comments]

Laser Spider spying?

I have a nema 17 17hs19-2004s1 which is making a high pitched noise when power supply is turned on and does not respond to any code. am using an Arduino uno and dm542t driver. I have made a a couple of projects now, but still don't understand how to have one power supply that is connected to my Arduino and that can control a higher load like a motor. I always read that I shouldn't connect a motor (for instance the MG996) to the Arduino 5V pin as it can draw relatively high currents. The operating voltage of this motor is 4.8 to 7.2V. My idea is to use a single 7V supply that can handle 3 or more Amps and then split the output of the power supply to my Arduino (VIN pin) and to the motor. Is this a fine option?

Do any of you have any recommendations for a power supply that is useful for someone starting to experiment controlling higher load things like motors?

   submitted by    /u/Maxopher
[link]   [comments]

One power supply for Arduino + Motor(s)?

So for a project I'm working on, I want to use a Raspberry pi pico as an HID keyboard and have it type text to a computer. Unfortunately micropython has no support for that, so my solution was to have the pico send the text over serial to an Arduino pro micro, which would then type the text.

These are the 2 quick scripts I wrote just to test the functionality:

For the pico (Micropython) -

from machine import UART, Pin

import utime

uart = UART(1, baudrate=9600, tx=Pin(4), rx=Pin(5))

while True:

uart.write('T')

utime.sleep(1)

Arduino -

#include "Keyboard.h"

void setup() {

Keyboard.begin();

Serial.begin(9600);

}

int NewChar = 0;

void loop() {

if (Serial.available() > 0) {

NewChar = Serial.read();

Serial.println((char)NewChar);

Keyboard.print((char)NewChar);

}

}

The wiring is very simple, tx pin 4 on the pico straight to the rx pin on the pro micro and rx to the tx pin, and later on I tried connecting ground pins on them both together to see if that would get rid of interference.

The results I'm getting from running these 2 scripts is very random, normally it looks like nothing is happening, and nothing appears on the arduino serial monitor, however the arduino will occasionally type seemingly random characters, mainly 'a', 'b', 'L' and 'E', which aren't sent to the serial monitor on my pc.

I'm not entirely sure if the problem is hardware or software, I doubt there is a problem with the pico, I am using uart0 for serial communication with an i2c screen which works fine. I have also tested sending and receiving serial between the arduino and my pc using the serial monitor, and that all works fine. So either the problem is with the connection between the two, or I have made a mistake in my code. If anyone has any thoughts about what could be causing this behaviour, I would be incredibly grateful as I am completely out of ideas. If anyone wants pictures/more information, I am more than happy to send anything over. Thanks.

   submitted by    /u/ElvenBlueMage
[link]   [comments]

Serial Communication Between Microcontrollers Creating Weird Behaviour

I'm wanting to start out in electronics and am starting at below beginner level.
