An update on our FAQ and tech support removal rule

Hi,

Last month, we created a post gauging feedback about the removal of our rules regarding site recommendations, FAQ, and tech support posts which you can read here. The community response tl;dr was that the changes were unwanted and users asking us to reinstate the rules, possibly with some changes to lessen the "content drought" we experience otherwise.

After reviewing the last month of submissions, it has become rather apparent that only a vocal minority of users actually want these posts. They have been proven to drive low engagement, spam the subreddit, and rarely benefit anyone besides the OP. As a result, we will be implementing a new rule to combat these sorts of posts once again:

7. No spoonfeeding or low effort questions
Posts asking for recommendations are not allowed. Previously answered questions are not allowed. Low effort tech support questions are not allowed. All topics of this nature may be removed at mod discretion.

This rule will allow us more fine-grained control over what is and is not allowed than the previous rule did. We believe that there are plenty of resources that that could be used to answer user questions instead of creating a new submission on our subreddit. If this results in a "content drought", we still view that as a more desirable outcome than the current state of the subreddit, but we will do what we can to mitigate that where possible.

We have since gone ahead and retroactively cleaned up the last month of posts but may have missed some that fall under our rules. You are more than welcome to report those to bring them to our attention which will help streamline the cleanup process.

Hello, i usually torrent all the anime that i want to watch, because of quality and i just like it, but now i was going to watch an anime together with my girlfriend and since we live a little far away from eachother it would be nice to have some way to watch it together!

For example sync the time on the players or something!

I know 9anime has a watchtogether feature, but i'm used to the torrent quality, i wanted to use that in last scenario!

We both have the video files!

How to find the highest quality torrent on Nyaa?

If I search for a anime or movie, there are always tons of different torrents to choose from. The only thing I look for is video quality, so how would I be able to tell which torrents have the best qualities? One way is maybe by looking at the file size, but I'm not sure if that is a good indication or not.

Hello, right now i have 3 hdd's filled with anime (1tb/500gb/500gb), right now i have a subscription of 200gb on my google drive (needed more than 15gb for school/work), it would be cool to have some seasons stored in there for everytime i'm out of the house and i want to watch something!

Is it possible to do something like this?

Details:

Almost all files are .mkv!

Some have more than 1 language of subtitles or audio!

They're mostly encodes that i gathered on nyaa!

I don't have a seedbox anymore since i wasn't really using it!

I use MPV!

So ever since animixplay went down, i landed on 9anime but i only recently learned that the streams they used for Onimai were tempered with, so are there any other streaming sites without crunchyroll streams as the source? Zoro.to also has this issue and I dont want to resort to torrenting.

I finally got annoyed enough with dealing with all the ads of other anime websites like zoro, and decided to just make my own website! It has ads which can be disabled by the user after creating an account (no ads on the watch page) and no popups ever, because they are frankly super annoying.

uBlock not working on JustLightNovels

I download light novels and read them on my Android tablet without issue until today. The site won't let me get to the download page without disabling my adblock. The moment I do I get assaulted by early-2000s style ads and can't proceed no matter what I do. I can't believe these are still around. Is this happening to anyone else?

How to tell the “quality” of a torrented anime?

As a torrenting noob after animixplay went bye bye, I’m wanting to make sure that the episodes I torrent are higher quality than the ones on streaming sites.

Unfortunately for me, I pretty much only know the difference between 1080p and 720p, and my eyes probably couldn’t even tell them apart. That being said, I still want to try and download the absolute highest quality available. So what are the information I should be looking for when determining an episodes quality? And where can I find these information?

Asking because I downloaded “The Pet Girl At Sakurasou High” where each episode was 1.4GB, then “Renai Flops” where each episode was only 300 MB. Both were seeded from Nyaa.si

Having issues with video playback.

Figured you guys might know what's going on. For years I used the same thing I always used, Media Player Classic + CCCP. Never needed to install anything else, and when I got my new PC a few years ago, I just went ahead and got the same thing. That was always the recommended media player and codec pack for playing anime back in the day.

But about a month or so ago, I started noticing something odd. I'd been getting a lot of video stuttering, particularly in scenes that scroll or move very quickly. I kind of just dealt with it, figuring it was no big deal, but it hasn't stopped, and I'll usually run into it once or twice every time I watch an episode or something.

So I decided to try out VLC today, to see if that gave any improvement. But now, it seems that instead of stuttering, it causes a bunch of artifacting to show up for a few seconds. Clearly something isn't right here, since I'm now having issues across 2 media players.

Thing is though... I don't think it's my PC. I've got a really strong PC (like, I've got an RTX 3070 in here) and I just got finished playing Persona 5 Royal and had zero graphical issues while playing, so I don't think there's anything wrong with my GPU.

Any idea what could be causing my video playback hiccups?

Is 99.5% completion good enough for ISOs?

I'm torrenting a set of Japanese (raw) DVDs. There are 0 seeds and all of them have 100% availability except for one. I suppose if it were just parts of trailers or something, I wouldn't want them anyway. My concern is whether something like MakeMKV would still parse properly whatever is present.
