RMA Support Guide [Support]

This guide is here to help you go through the RMA process and win any unfair disputes.

If you're reading this there's a high chance ASUS is giving you some trouble about your RMA.

Firstly, I want to get some basic stuff out of the way.

Before you ship out items for RMA, make sure you take pictures of the item that show every nook and cranny are undamaged before you send it out. If you didn't, you might not have a strong case. If you shipped it out using ASUS's label, FedEx will not allow you to make a claim. ASUS is the one who has to go through the process, and they likely won't. If you shipped it out via your own means, then you should be able to make a claim with that company if your product was damaged.

Secondly, talking with customer support.

If your item was under warranty before sending it and it was damaged during the shipping and handling process to ASUS and they claim it has CID (Customer-Induced Damage) that voids the warranty, you will likely have to escalate the issue. If it is truly not your fault, dispute the CID via the form they sent and email customer support with your evidence that you have of shipping it out undamaged (pictures, etc). If they get back to you and don't accept the dispute, you will have to escalate it.

Thirdly, escalating it.

I did this after 2 weeks of ASUS wanting me to pay retail to repair my damaged motherboard. Within 4 days of contacting him I received a brand new motherboard for free.

Just bought ASUS - ROG Zephyrus 15.6 WQHD 165Hz Gaming Laptop-AMD Ryzen 9-16GB DDR5 Memory-NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060-512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD from Best Buy. Been running into a few issues. It frequently coil whines even when I am just answering emails. I know that is a common issue with ASUS but wondering if you all ran into any luck there? Also, I have a Dell dock wd19s to use to usbc connect the laptop to my two monitors. Is that okay when it comes to supplying power and not ruining the battery? TIA

WHEA-Logger warning on z790 Hero with 990 Pro SSD

Hello,

I’ve been running into this issue when running OCCT stress test on RAM and CPU. I took it out and just used my 980 Pro and the warning went away. Has anyone noticed this issue in their event viewer or stress testing? The ram has been working fine and Samsung magician said the drive was healthy but still causing these warnings. Should I RMA or not worry about it until there’s an update to the bios. I say this part because the mobo support page does not list the 990 pro.

What do the different cpu fan modes do in the Asus Bios? Asus prime b550-plys motherboard, R5 5600G

I recently custom built a Ryzen 5 5600G build with the Asus b550-Plus motherboard. I saw the different fan modes like standard, silent, turbo, full speed, and manual. Will any of these do anything to my PC or other hardware on my system like overclock or boost anything? Or does the fan simply spin at different speeds and temps based on the mode presets? I don't wanna damage my system, and I was wondering if I could set the fan to turbo mode, but idk if that bad a negative affect on the CPU like if it auto boosts it or something like that. Idk, this is my first build and I'm new to all this.

Keyboard not lighting up

Hi! I've got an issue that I was hoping you guys could help me fix. I've looked at countless forums, and none have given me answers that work, and very few were for ASUS computers anyways.

So here goes, some time ago, my keyboard stopped lighting up on my ROG GL552VW. I thought my laptop was being moody, but since I was using it in well lit room, it wasn't an issue. More recently, I've needed to use it in darker settings, and it's once again proving to be an issue. My Windows version was way out of date (like 1909 from November 2019, I think). For some reason auto updates weren't happening and I kept getting error messages that it couldn't update, and attempts at using ISO didn't work until I found an installer on the Microsoft website that took like 3 hours but finally got it done. I hoped this would fix my problem, but it didn't. I'd read about the ATK drivers being out of date, and indeed, they were very much out of date. I tried to uninstall them like it said to do on the ASUS website, and to download the latest version to reinstall it. It seems that ATK still isn't showing in my Settings > Apps and Devices when I type "ATK" in the search bar, despite me trying to launch the setup executable in the zip file (I got an error message on my first go, didn't write it down before closing the message, then, nothing every time I've tried launching the exe and I'm not sure if it's working or not).

The weird, thing, seeing as from what I've read, without ATK drivers, my fn keys shouldn't work, well… they still do? Well, those that used to work, still work. I can increase and decrease brightness, change the volume and mute my laptop, the F8 display shows the side bar thing, F9 doesn't seem to work but I don't have an HDMI screen so I'm guessing it can't clone anything. Sleep and airplane mode also work, however, the F3 and F4 keys to change the keyboard brightness keep on doing nothing. Similarly, for a while now, the F7 key has been incapable of turning the display panel off, even though I'm pretty sure it used to essentially turn off my screen without putting my computer to sleep (useful to download a game on steam through the night and not having to hide my screen with a shirt or something).
Finally, the weirdest of all, is that it's not just the fn keys. I've tried going into the control panel, mobility centre and then changing keyboard brightness from there, well… it's just not showing up in the options. And I cannot find a way to add a custom option in mobility centre.

So yeah, if anyone can help me, maybe it's a common problem that people know about?
It could be the lights are just fried, I guess. Maybe after… oof… 6 years already, they gave up. I've had to replace the battery a couple years ago, so yeah…

ROG Strix B550i ITX AM4 - USB PD Data + charge?

Hi guys,

I have a B550i build that is going well - I want to use a Quest 2 VR headset for Microsoft Flight Simulator, but when I use the questlink (USB-C or 3.1) the power drains from the headset in about an hour or so, despite the charging notifications going on.

Speaking to other friends with similar setups they have no issue using their Q2's indefinately while plugged in, as they have PD while its in use.

Am I doing something wrong? Im lost, and dont understand why my headset wont charge properly while plugged into any USB on my system.

Any advice would be awesome. Thanks!

Asus XT8 Hardware Versions

I just got an Asus XT8 from Amazon and I noticed it was hardware revision 1. However, I noticed hardware version 2 referenced in the firmware page but haven't found any mentions of the differences between v1 and v2 hardware. Does anyone know the differences between the two and should I be concerned if I have the v1 version instead of v2?

Asus Tuf FX505DU G-sync issue.

Well, I bought this model recently, for 300£.

Ryzen 5 3550H 16Gb 2400hz 18CL GTX 1660Ti 512Gb M.2 Windows 11 Home

On display is just a little tiny purple dot, visible only on black background, and fans are bearing on low RPM, and it's quite loud overall under stress 😅. But not that bad for the price (especially that I ordered new fans for 30£).

I found out, some issue with G-sync. When I turn on G-sync in NVIDIA control panel with my TV (Phillips OLED 706/2021, 120hz with FreeSync and G-sync), after I turn on the game, TV is losing signal after few seconds, but restoring when I back to desktop, or set for window borderless. But all of the temps are good, so I doubt that it's a GPU fault (max 81C) Also all works perfectly on internal display on laptop, even while using 1660TI in game.

When I turn off the G-sync there is no problem at all. But the G-sync is helping a lot, with input lag, and reducing any stutter if there is some.

Firstly I thought that I've done it wrong, when I installed AMD Adrenaline for integrated Vega 8 in CPU, and NVDIA drives, together.

Things I done to try to resolve it.

DDU and fresh reinstall GPU drivers (just without adrenaline this time)
Different HDMi and ports in TV
Reset TV (unplug from AC)
Gently clean HDMi port in laptop

I could try to make a fresh windows reinstall, but not sure if it's gonna help.

Any idea guys what's going on, with this nice piece of tech ?

And second much shorter questions, is there any sens of using Liquid Metal in it ? It will drop temps and loudness significantly ? Or just put better Thermal Paste on CPU and GPU while changing those fans on new one ?

GL503VD Ram Swap Failed, Won’t Boot Windows

Ok so I don’t normally post support questions but this has been an issue for a couple days and I need my laptop for school. Enough preface, let’s get down to brass tax.

So, I’ve had my laptop for about 5 years now and it runs like a champ. I swapped the stock 1tb Firecuda SSHD with a 1tb WD Black and everything’s been running smooth on Windows 10. I decided I wanted to upgrade the ram because the stock 16gb 2400mhz just wasn’t cutting it for me so I got 2x16gb Corsair Vengence 3200mhz chips to unlock my laptops full potential. Now this was where’s things went wrong. Very wrong. I slap my shiny new ram into my machine, power it on and BOOM! BSOD. Error code 0xc0000221 to be exact. ntoskernal error. Note, stock memory is 2400mhz so I think the 3200mhz messed something up.

I try going back to the stock memory and it just goes to a black screen boot loop then after a few more tries it just goes straight to bios. Now, bios recognizes the drive but it won’t show as a bootable device. It just says dev:0 func:0

Troubleshooting time. I update my my bios and get out my trusty windows installer to try and repair the drive and nothing seems to work. Tried diskpart set active, SFC /scannow, CHKDSK /f /r, and a plethora of DISM tests and the problem still persists.

Now here’s where things get wacky. I plug the M.2 drive into the spare slot on my desktop and it boots fine! Ran all the same diagnostics inside windows and it said it fixed some drive corruption so I put it back in my laptop and sure enough, straight to bios…Also! I plug in the old firecuda and it boots up fine (aside from being a slow af piece of garbage disk but I digress). One thing to note is the firecuda is MBR and the M.2 is GPT. Not sure if that’s the issue but there’s no way I’m wiping the drive and converting it to MBR to test it. Maybe I can try a clean GPT install on a backup ssd to test if it’s a file system issue. (Edit: Not the issue cuz laptop boots desktop GPT M.2 drive just fine)

So here’s what I think happened. 3200mhz is incompatible with the GL503 and plugging it it messed something up with the mobo or M.2 drive. Bios no longer recognizes the windows boot loader and now it’s bricked (only on my laptop). I haven’t found anything of use online and I’m gonna keep trying at it but if anyone has had the same issue or can offer suggestions that would be fantastic.

[ASUS Zen Pad 10 Z300 Series] Need help to setup tablet as gift to my mom.

Hi everyone,

I don't use tablets and am unfamiliar with them but at work recently our firm purchased another firm and part of the process was to wipe all the drives off their devices. We sold what we could and kept some devices for our use or for e-waste.

The IT guy gifted me a wiped Zen Pad 10 Z300 series and when I follow the steps to set it up I get this message: https://imgur.com/a/D0h14tO "This device was set to it's factory settings. To continue, connect to a network and sign in to the previous Google Account (required)".

That account is no more and the employee who might have held that account now works for a different company.

Is there anything I can do to get around this? Is there another type of reset I can do on the board of the device or something?

I'm hoping to gift this to my mom lol and would rather it be used than end up in e-waste...

ASUS router not grabbing WAN IP from passthrough-enabled AT&T modem [x-post from r/HomeNetworking]

I have an AT&T modem (Arris BGW210-700) and ASUS mesh routers (2x ZenWifi XT8 AX6600). I'm trying to setup the AT&T modem in IP Passthrough mode and have the main ASUS router pick up the modem's IP as its WAN IP, but for some reason it's not working.

Here's how I have IP Passthrough setup in the AT&T modem (it was able to find the router MAC fine, so I selected it):

However, on the network map page, you can see that it has a private IP from the modem still and not the public IP:

(EDIT: One note is that my ASUS router has a 192.168.50.1 LAN address and that 192.168.50.x range is where all my devices live, so there shouldn't be a conflict here.)

Here's where I may have screwed up - when I was initially setting up IP Passthrough on the modem I set the lease to 99 days, then restarted the router, saw no change, then shut down the modem and router, then started up the modem, waited, then started up the router, still saw no change. Since then I've changed the DHCP lease for IP Passthrough to 10 minutes, shut down the modem and router, powered up the modem, then the router, and still no change. I also set the general DHCP in the modem's "Subnets and DHCP" page to 10 minutes from 1 day, shut down the modem and router, powered up the modem, then the router, and still no change.

Not sure where I'm going wrong here. I setup IP Passthrough fine previously with the same router and an older version of the same model AT&T modem and it worked perfectly.

Any ideas? Thanks!

How long does it take the Asus Store to "process" and ship an order with FedEx Next business day?

One full day after having placed an order at the asus store/shop, its status still shows as "Processing". My credit card was already charged for the order, and I paid for the next business day delivery with FedEx. I haven't even received a confirmation email yet.

Anybody knows how much longer I might have to wait to see the status change? I must receive it by Friday, otherwise it's no use for me.

On another note, is there a way to cancel my order in case it stays the same? I don't see any options to do it on the shop.

ZenBook Duo Pro 14 OLED with Kubuntu: main screen can't be re-activated after being turned off by the energy saver

Greetings,

I have an ASUS ZenBook Duo Pro 14 OLED (UX8402ZA) with Kubuntu 22.04 running on it. Everything works well except for an annoying problem with the main screen: sometimes, when the screen is turned off due to inactivity (energy saving), it doesn't turn back on afterward until the system is rebooted. The second screen has no such problems and with its help, I can ascertain that everything is still functioning correctly sans the main screen being off. The brightness controls don't help, nor does switching to another terminal with Ctrl+Alt+F*. There's the obvious stop-gap solution which is to simply disable energy saving, but ideally, I would prefer to find a proper solution to this.

The problem is also reproducible by simply reducing the brightness to zero. Once that is done, the main screen goes off and it can't be re-enabled again until reboot.

Can anyone help? I tried lurking around, but either I used the wrong keywords, or nobody else has complained about this problem so far.

Hello,

I have built a computer but im having issues. I spent two days searching and reading here and Google but found nothing that works.

Symptoms:

When I start the computer all fans start spining and I can see the fan and lights on the GFX card.

The POWER LED light starts by blinking 4x/second to change to 1x/2 seconds and then finaly change to every 4 seconds on and 4 seconds off in a loop.

What I have tried (power off with powercable removed from PSU after each change):

*Removing the WD nvee drives
*One memory module in A2 and second module in B2
*One memory module in A1 and second module in B1
*One memory module in A2 and no other, also tried switching since I have 2 modules.
*One memory module in B1
*One memory Module in B2
etc. all kinds of combos wat tested
*Tried all DisplayPorts and the HDMI on the GFX card
*Shortcircut the CLRTC pins when power is off.
*Removing the CMOS battery.
*I also tried for a few seconds to run without CPU fan but same result.
*Since there is no iGPU on the CPU I haven't connected any DP/HDMI cables to the ports on the motherboard.
*I have check if there is any bent pins on the CPU socket, they looked ok.

Hardware:

Motherboard: Asus Prime Z690-P WIFI
DDR5 Memory: 2x 32Gb Crucial RAM 32GB DDR5 4800MHz Desktop Memory CT32G48C40U5 (in the vendor list of approved memory modules on Asus)
CPU: Intel Core i9-12900KF (in the vendor list of approved CPUs on Asus)
CPU Fan: Noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler
GFX card: Gainward GeForce RTX 3060 Pegasus 12Gb with 3xDisplayPort and 1xHDMI, in PCIE slot 1

PSU: Corsair RX1000 Platinum modular.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

ASUS Laptop Battery Issue

Hi, I've not made a troubleshooting post before, so bear with me, and let me know if I need to provide any more information.

I have an ASUS Q525UA. I got it sometime in 2018, and I just recently installed this SSD in it (around one month ago).

Ever since then, my battery has been having a significant problem, and it seems random when it happens. I always took good care of my battery, capping the charge to 60% for the entire time I've had it, and even after the installation, it seems to hold charge well.

So the issue is, sometimes, when I power on my laptop without it being plugged it, it loses all charge as soon as I get to my desktop. The battery reports look like this. On the graph, there are just vertical lines for the instant drop in charge.

Does anyone have a clue as to what's going on? I'll take any lead I can get.

AsusCertService is being detected in VirScan as a virus + IP relations in VirusTotal.

As the title says, I was scanning this file using VirScan and VirusTotal because I was curious, after formatting my PC 3 months ago.

The Virus VirScan found was called "W32/Felix:EX:001 !Eldorado" and was only detected by F-Prot, VirusTotal does not detect anything.

Though, when you go to relations in VirusTotal, there's two IP address listed.

The two IP addresses points to:

- MICROSOFT-CORP-MSN-AS-BLOCK

- Akamai International B.V.

Is this file supposed to connect to those IP addresses, and is the detected virus just a false positive?
